P.D. Worthley Reunion
July 18-20, 2005
Holiday Inn Express – Bandana Square
St. Paul, Minnesota
Monday - July 18, 2005
The P.D. Worthley Reunion gathered at the Holiday Inn Express – Bandana Square in St. Paul, Minnesota when registration began at 1:00 p.m. in the hotel lobby. The relatives living in Minnesota provided the evening sandwich/finger-food meal in the designated meeting room. Coordinating this effort was 2nd Vice President, Cheryl Musser. Following the dinner, President Kieth Worthley opened the meeting by welcoming everyone to the reunion and reviewing the schedule of activities for the reunion days.
Each family unit was allowed 3 minutes to give updated information about their family since the previous reunion. Also, everyone was challenged, in three words, to share what they are grateful for.
Worthley Reunion tee-shirts are available for $10.00. These were designed by Cynthia Jessen using an actual 1914 photo of the farm. Any proceeds over the printing cost will go directly into the reunion fund.
Families were encouraged to mingle in the meeting room and take advantage of the display of family history information, pictures, and memorabilia.
The meeting was adjourned at 8:30 p.m.
Tuesday – July 19, 2005
Today’s events began at 9:30 a.m. with a caravan to Lake Elmo Park Reserve. The day was spent playing ball (just like in the front yard at the farm), water balloon toss (fight!?!), water gun duels, and a peanut hut game for the little tikes. Games were enjoyed by everyone involved and a few who hadn’t planned on becoming participants!
The picnic meal was catered veggies and desserts to compliment Kieth’s grilled Martin County pork chops. Following the meal, the family unit pictures were taken. It was a great day of fun and cool Minnesota summer weather.
The evening meeting was called to order at 8:15 p.m. by President Kieth Worthley. Family members were encouraged to share stories and memories they have of the barn on Anchorage Farm in Martin County. 1st Vice President, Mark Worthley, would like to compile these stories into a booklet. He encouraged anyone to write down any stories they would like included in this booklet. He also brought slices of a wooden beam as a souvenir of the barn for everyone to have.
Ideas regarding the next reunion resulted in good discussion. It was proposed to have the reunion held every 5 years instead of the current three year interval. When it was all said and done, the reunion will continue at three-year intervals with the option of an informal five-year reunion for anyone able to do so.
Karen Worthley shared the family tree she designed and produced. It is available for $5.00. Any proceeds over the cost of printing will go directly to the reunion fund.
The committee for the next reunion was discussed. At least two members from each family (Donald, John, Eva Jean, Darrell, Ray) will be nominated to serve as the family’s liaison to the new officers. The nominations are: Keri Tollberg, Amelia Eskelson, Mark Worthley, David Worthle, Daryl Musser, Eric Musser, Wayne Worthley, Jessica Andrews, Rebecca Nordin. Elections for the new officers will be tomorrow (Wednesday) evening.
Secretary, Diane Ryswyk, reported 95 Worthley’s in attendance at this reunion. Members were encouraged to update all addresses, phone numbers, emails, etc. with the secretary. Electronic communication will be encouraged in sharing reunion information.
The income and expenses of the reunion are: income $1676.00 and expenses $2064.00.
It is necessary to charge an additional registration fee of $8.00 per person to meet the expenses. These fees may be paid to treasurer, Worthley. Also, there are 15 reunion tee-shirts remaining, see an officer if you would like one.
Family members were encouraged to remain in the meeting room to view old movies and fellowship.
Meeting adjourned.

At 5:45 p.m. the Worthley family boarded the Andiamo in Stillwater for a two-hour dinner cruise down the St. Croix River. Fabulous fellowship and delicious dinner accompanied the luscious vegetation along the banks of the St. Croix River.
